The Story

When Josué isn't running the book store, he is usually in the back corner of the room where his photography studio is set up - Reiter's, located right next to the U.S. Passport Agency, provides essential ID photo services. Josué, though he never travelled outside the U.S. since moving from El Salvador, knows the exact passport photo size for more than 20 countries.


When asked if he feels nervous taking ID photos, especially for occasional politicians and celebrities that visit the store, his answer was: "No, I used to be a war photographer in El Salvador". Scrolling through the photos of young Joesué while the government cracks down on the MS-13 gang, Josué shared that his journey began when his photographer friend was killed on the street right next to him. "I picked up his camera and began taking photos".


As the COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the decline of the bookstore industry, Josué is now on a much harder journey than before to navigate through the operational obstacles and regulatory troubles. With the retirement of his partner, Opus is there every step of the way to ensure that the bookstore is up-to-date with relevant regulations, and can further expand its business.
